From the Pitch to Everyday Life – Mental Strength as a Daily Practice

Whether on the football pitch, at work or in everyday life – the mind is constantly challenged. It moves between pressure, focus and moments of calm, like a breath searching for its rhythm.

Performance in elite sport shows us that success depends not only on the body, but just as much on inner stability. Visualization, conscious breathing, steady pre-game routines and self-confidence are resources that help us stay centered, even in the most intense moments.

These resources aren't reserved for professional athletes. They can be woven into everyday life to manage stress more effectively, strengthen our inner balance and nurture our personal well-being.

This is exactly where our collaboration with Francisco «Cico» Rodriguez begins. As a former professional footballer, he knows the pressure of the big stage first-hand – and for years he has spoken openly about the fact that mental health matters just as much as physical fitness. Through his «99% – A Mental Health Initiative», he has encouraged thousands of people to look closely rather than look away.

Together, we want to carry this message further: mental strength is not the privilege of a gifted few, but something every one of us can cultivate.

What makes elite sport so instructive is the matter-of-fact way training is approached there. No one expects to deliver peak performance without preparation – not physically, and just as little mentally. Translated to our own lives, this means that inner stability also grows through small, repeated steps, not through a single grand moment.

It is often these conscious moments that make the difference. A deep breath before an important conversation. A short pause in which we notice the tension instead of overriding it. Our body constantly sends subtle signals – fatigue, restlessness, a tightness in the chest. Those who learn to read these signals gain a valuable compass for their own well-being.

At Praxis House of Rouh, we have always been committed to mental health. Through our collaboration with Cico, we are now consciously carrying that commitment into places where it is rarely discussed: into sport, into teams and into companies. With events and public outreach, we want to make knowledge around mental strength and nervous-system regulation accessible – clear, approachable and relevant to everyday life.

Perhaps the first step is quite simple: pause for a moment, breathe consciously, and ask yourself what today truly calls for.
